Position Overview:

We’re looking for a detail-oriented, highly organized part-time Accounting Specialist contractor to help bring order to our financial operations and maintain clean, accurate books going forward. The ideal person will be experienced in A/P, A/R, reconciliations, and financial cleanup projects, and can work independently with minimal direction. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a startup environment, loves rolling up their sleeves and handling the nuts and bolts of finance and accounting.  

Responsibilities:

  • Review and clean up existing books to ensure all transactions are properly categorized and reconciled
  • Organize and manage Accounts Payable (vendor bills, payment schedules, expense categorization)
  • Manage Accounts Receivable (invoicing, collections follow-up, applying payments)
  • Reconcile bank, credit card, and loan accounts monthly
  • Work with management to create or refine simple bookkeeping processes
  • Generate monthly P&L, balance sheet, and cash flow reports
  • Identify gaps or inefficiencies in current bookkeeping setup and recommend improvements
Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of bookkeeping experience 
  • Proven experience with A/P, A/R, and account reconciliations
  • Hands-on experience with invoicing, payroll systems, and expense management
  • Proficiency with financial software (e.g., QuickBooks, Ramp, Excel/Google Sheets required)
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Experience in cleaning up or migrating books is a plus
Available ~10-20 hours per week during normal business hours
